Frequently Asked Questions

From gender reveals to unforgettable bonding moments, see your little one grow from 15 weeks onwards.

A 4D baby scan is a special type of ultrasound that captures your baby’s movements in real time, showing them in three-dimensional detail and natural colour.

At Womb With a View, we follow the A.L.A.R.A. principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) to ensure the safest possible ultrasound levels while still producing stunning, high-quality images. All scans are performed in line with the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) guidelines for complete peace of mind.

Therefore 4D scanning is just as safe as the 2D process by which millions of babies have been scanned over the past 30 years. We practice the A.L.A.R.A principle, which stands for As Low As Reasonably Achievable, meaning that the ultrasound settings are very low, but it is still possible to achieve incredible images. In addition, we follow the scanner settings recommended by BMUS, British Medical Ultrasound Society.

Our experienced sonographers always prioritise your safety and wellbeing. If anything unusual is noticed during your scan, they will discuss the findings with you sensitively and recommend contacting your primary healthcare provider for further assessment.

For the most detailed and beautiful images, we recommend having your 3D/4D bonding scan between 24 and 34 weeks, with the ideal window between 27 and 32 weeks.

For twin pregnancies, we recommend booking your 3D or 4D baby scan a little earlier — ideally between 22 and 26 weeks. During this stage, there’s usually enough space and fluid around both babies to capture clear, detailed images.
